Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was natural for questions to be raised about his future following a further heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the team's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received significant support from above,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory naturally but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard conversations we have I perceive the belief. But I've not talked to them since this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over recurring shortcomings from his squad in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a phase such as this with performances like these.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we will always battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
