The person explains that the previous night, they had poured themself "a single serving" to decompress after an exhausting day. One glass became two, followed by even more. This is a habit they've grown used to; a quiet practice that enables the individual "disconnect" separate from the racing thoughts that overwhelm their thoughts when daily life ultimately winds down.

Growing Pattern: Relying on Alcohol to Cope With Anxiety

This story represents something that I've been seeing more and more often during sessions. Being a psychotherapist, I have noticed a notable trend: an increasing amount of people that are turning to substances to handle their stress.

Studies indicates that approximately over a third of adults who used beverages did so to relieve stress and nearly one-fifth to manage nervousness.

Understanding Worldwide Anxiety Exposure

We are living in a time of known as global distress exposure. We have never been so constantly made aware of emergencies, disputes and turmoil. Although we switch off our screens, the concerns remain of money worries, job insecurity, climate fears and mental exhaustion that comes with being so powerless.
