President Trump Invites Relatives of Shot Military Personnel to White House

President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member killed last week to visit the White House.

He mentioned that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Incident

Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Vigils across West Virginia have been held in their memory.

White House Invitation

The commander-in-chief stated he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president informed journalists. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”

Public Support

Attendees gathered over the weekend at the high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to assist policing efforts in Washington DC.

Remembering Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that educators hoped for. She behaved with calm resilience, a bright grin and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, informed the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always willing to help others.”

Memorial plans for Sarah are still being arranged.

Legal Measures and Government Revisions

Officials have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The tragedy prompted the Trump administration to pause refugee claims and halt providing entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.

Condition of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor the governor said on television.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to the family.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had fortitude,” he addressed the audience at the service. “Though her life ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
